معلومات أساسية
The 30th typhoon, Champi, is currently influencing weather patterns across South Korea. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the typhoon is drawing moisture from subtropical high-pressure systems, resulting in significant rainfall across southern regions and Jeju Island.
Precipitation is expected to be particularly intense in Jeju, where mountainous and mid-mountain areas may receive over 250mm of rain through tomorrow. Hourly rainfall rates in parts of Jeju are projected to reach 20mm to 30mm during the morning hours.
The storm brings severe wind conditions, with Jeju under a strong wind advisory. Gusts are expected to reach speeds exceeding 70km per hour, with mountainous areas potentially experiencing gusts over 90km per hour. Authorities advise checking outdoor facilities due to these conditions.
The Korea Meteorological Administration notes that the typhoon's path and intensity remain fluid. While Champi is expected to weaken into an extratropical cyclone by the 27th, maritime warnings for the seas south of Jeju and the eastern South Sea may be upgraded to typhoon warnings based on future developments.
