Key information

Molleindustria has released an update for the narrative-driven open-world adventure game Future? No Thanks!, which removes all voice assets generated by artificial intelligence. The developer, Paolo Pedercini, confirmed that these segments have been replaced with human-recorded audio, jokingly noting that the game quality has decreased by approximately 0.001%.

The game, which launched on September 4, explores an environmental socialist utopia through the perspective of an elderly protagonist. Following its release, the developer disclosed that while they did not use 'vibe coding,' they had utilized tools like ChatGPT and Claude for debugging and finishing touches. Pedercini noted that Steam does not mandate the disclosure of AI-assisted coding, suggesting that many other indie developers likely use such tools silently.

After facing significant criticism and insults on social media regarding the use of AI, Pedercini addressed the backlash by offering refunds to any purchasers who feel betrayed by the development process. Affected players are invited to contact the developer via email with their PayPal or Venmo account details to receive a reimbursement.

Future? No Thanks! remains available for purchase on Windows and Mac platforms via Steam and itch.io. The title previously gained attention during its development phase due to delays caused by Steam's review process regarding low-polygon nudity.
