The Pokémon Company has announced a major update for the mobile application Pokémon TCG Pocket, set to launch on October 29, 2026. This release, titled Fusion Double, coincides with the application's second anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the original trading card game. The update introduces the long-awaited dual-type card mechanic, a feature previously established in the physical card game.

The integration of dual-type creatures, such as Mega-Mewtwo X-ex and Mega-Amphinobi-ex, significantly alters gameplay mechanics. These cards allow players to target two distinct weaknesses and utilize synergies from both elemental types. This shift aims to move away from rigid mono-elemental deck building, offering increased flexibility and strategic depth for competitive play.

To support this transition, the C1 ranked season will feature restricted combat modes. To assist players, six pre-constructed loaner decks will be provided for free until December 16, 2026, encouraging experimentation with the new mechanics.

Additionally, the update introduces Special Boosters, which operate on a weekly stamina gauge. These packs guarantee at least one card with a minimum rarity of one star. The first set, Premiers Partenaires, will be available from October 31 to December 26, 2026, featuring starter Pokémon from all nine generations.
