The third volume of the Rock is a Lady’s Modesty manga focuses entirely on the high-stakes musical battle between the band Blanc de Noir Plus Alpha and their rivals, Bitter Ganache. This volume centers on the efforts of Lilisa, Otoha, Tina, and Shiro to form their group despite significant obstacles.
The narrative structure dedicates seven chapters to this single performance, utilizing a pacing style compared to Dragon Ball Z battles. Siliconera notes that this approach allows for detailed character insights and reactions during their first live performance, rather than providing a rushed summary of the event.
The stakes are high, as a loss would force Shiro to abandon the bass for a guitar role in the rival band. The group faces internal pressure, including Tina’s status as an amateur keyboardist and Lilisa’s anxiety regarding comparisons to Shiro’s guitar skills, all while performing an instrumental track against a group featuring a lead singer.
The volume incorporates characteristic fanservice, including yuri relationship dynamics and specific costume designs. Volumes 1-3 are currently available through Yen Press, though no release window for volume 4 has been announced. The anime adaptation is available for streaming on HIDIVE.
