On October 24, 2026, 4A Games released a free update for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux. This patch introduces Nvidia DLSS 5 support for PC players, an unannounced feature aimed at enhancing character realism through artificial intelligence.
The implementation focuses heavily on character models, providing significantly more detailed expressions and features. According to DSO Gaming, environmental changes remain subtle, requiring direct side-by-side comparisons to identify differences, suggesting the developer prioritized character rendering.
WCCFTech reports that enabling DLSS 5 results in a noticeable performance drop. Despite this, the update includes broader technical improvements such as enhanced textures, lighting, animations, and audio. PC users also gain AMD FSR and 4A TSR upscaling options alongside the removal of frame rate caps.
The update is currently available for both titles. Meanwhile, the studio is developing Metro 2039, scheduled for February 4, 2027, though it remains unconfirmed if that title will feature DLSS 5.
