A modder named Doneda has uncovered remnants of a massive, discarded stage from the early development of Dark Souls 2, the action RPG released by FromSoftware in 2014. This expansive area, which includes a large colosseum, reportedly exceeds the size of the arenas found in Elden Ring.

The discovery extends beyond a single combat arena, as the game files contain a complex network of structures. These include a mining zone, a mysterious underground tower, and a crypt. Some of these elements appear to be interconnected, while others may represent different iterations of concepts explored during the game's production.

The underground tower is noted for potentially housing a series of combat arenas. While it remains unconfirmed, there is speculation that parts of this discarded content might have evolved into the Undead Crypt featured in the final version of the game. The exact intended function of the colosseum remains unknown.

To explore these findings, Doneda utilized Elden Ring Nightreign to load the files and reconstruct the area. This discovery highlights the significant amount of content cut during the development of Dark Souls 2, a project that underwent major changes to its story, graphics, and environments before its release.
