Key information

Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, the latest entry in the series arriving nearly a decade after its predecessor. Set in the "AGE 1000" era, over 200 years after the original story, the game features a new narrative based on concepts, characters, and future technology provided by the late Akira Toriyama.

The game emphasizes deep character customization, allowing players to create unique warriors by selecting from six races: Earthlings, Saiyans, Namekians, Frieza race, Majins, and Androids. Players can learn from 130 mentors, utilizing a new skill panel system to acquire abilities. Additionally, the "Soul System" introduces "Soul Support" for summoning allies and "Soul Exchange" to embody legendary fighters.

Producer Masayuki Hirano explained that the team implemented a skill cooldown system to address the repetitive combat patterns seen in previous titles. This change encourages players to experiment with diverse skill combinations rather than relying on singular powerful moves. Hirano noted that balancing these expanded customization options against combat fairness remains a primary development challenge.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 offers a single-player story mode spanning over 25 hours, alongside multiplayer modes including cooperative PvE and competitive PvP. The title is scheduled for release in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
