Key information

The community-driven project Star Wars Galaxies Restoration has released a significant update titled A New Dawn. This release follows previous expansions to the 2003 MMO, such as the Jedi system and galactic civil war, by incorporating various features developed by 13 new team members.

A major technical improvement is the client upgrade to DirectX 12. This change introduces graphical enhancements including volumetric fog, atmospheric effects, and new water shaders. Additionally, the update adds support for increased terrain draw distances and upscaling technologies like DLSS, FSR, and XeSS.

The update overhauls the planet Kashyyyk with revamped instances and rebalanced content originally from 2005. Furthermore, the Scout and Ranger professions received updates including new traps, advanced creature tracking, and a prestige system for camps. Other changes include mounted combat, interactive creature taming, and a drag-and-drop interface for furniture placement.

A New Dawn is available for players starting today. The Star Wars Galaxies Restoration project remains free to play and can be accessed through the official project website.
