The survival game Project Zomboid, traditionally played from an isometric view, has received a significant modification called PZ3D. Created by modder kolpaque, this project allows players to experience the game from first or third-person perspectives, fundamentally altering how users interact with the world.

PZ3D goes beyond simple camera adjustments by adapting core mechanics to a 3D environment. Players can now perform standard survival tasks such as building, farming, chopping trees, and managing combat from a closer viewpoint. The mod also includes support for multiplayer, though it remains in active development.

Since its initial release on September 24, the mod has received frequent updates. The version 0.9.0, released on October 22, integrates over 6000 3D models and improves loading times. Ongoing development continues to refine animations, lighting, and movement to ensure all original game mechanics function correctly.

Installation requires the ZombieBuddy tool to modify engine aspects beyond standard modding capabilities. The creator advises allocating at least 6 GB of RAM and warns that users may encounter bugs or unfinished features. Additionally, the developer notes potential risks associated with executing third-party code with elevated access.
