Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles on November 18. While the upcoming Switch 2 is beginning to host major multiplatform titles, industry expectations suggest that Rockstar's latest blockbuster will not be among them.

Jérémy Hartvick, a former open-world designer at Rockstar, recently discussed the feasibility of a Nintendo port on the Kiwitalk podcast. He expressed skepticism regarding the relevance of such a release, noting that the core audience for GTA 6 likely already intends to purchase a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series console to play the game.

Hartvick further argued that the technical challenges of porting the title could result in a mediocre experience. He suggested that the high development costs required to bring the game to Nintendo hardware would be difficult to justify, especially when the target demographic is already served by other platforms.

Despite these concerns, Hartvick acknowledged that the concept is not entirely absurd. While Nintendo is currently working to attract third-party publishers to the Switch 2, the release of GTA 6 remains firmly focused on its primary console launch, with a potential PC version rumored for early 2027.
