Wube Software officially released version 2.1 of the factory automation game Factorio on October 23. This update follows a summer testing period for the experimental version, incorporating player feedback and bug reports to reach a stable state.
This release marks the final major update for the title, as the developer shifts focus toward long-term support. While active gameplay development concludes, the team will continue addressing bugs, maintaining platform compatibility, and supporting modding features.
Version 2.1 introduces various quality-of-life improvements and minor features that were not included in 2.0. Notable changes include the ability to reverse oil pumps and fuel-powered drills, as well as enhancements to circuit networks, which now support distinct wire colors for input and output signals.
For Space Age expansion owners, the update adds new unloading equipment for landing pads and modifies orbital transport mechanics. Additionally, the Recycler facility has been separated into an independent mod, allowing players to experience the game with the Quality feature disabled.
The developer warns that 2.1 updates may disrupt existing factory operations due to circuit changes. Because updated save files and blueprints are incompatible with version 2.0, players are strongly advised to back up their data before upgrading.
