Dplus KIA secured a victory against G2 Esports during their opening match at the Worlds 2026 tournament. This result marks the second time the team has defeated the LEC champions since July, following their previous success at the Esports World Cup.
Although G2 Esports established an early lead by winning a four-versus-four engagement and eliminating ShowMaker, Dplus KIA managed to secure the first dragon. This momentum shift allowed them to overcome the deficit and conclude the game in their favor, ending a three-match winning streak for G2.
Despite the loss, G2 Esports maintains a higher standing in Elo power rankings, currently positioned 13th with a rating of 1798. In contrast, Dplus KIA holds the 29th position with a rating of 1715. The tournament follows a Swiss Stage format where teams require three wins to advance to the quarter-finals.
Following this opening round, Dplus KIA is scheduled to face T1 on Saturday. T1 began their own campaign with a victory against LOS. The final match of the tournament is slated for 14 November at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
