AMD has officially acknowledged the Zen 6 Medusa processor line within the release notes for HIPRT 3.2, its ray tracing library for HIP. The documentation explicitly lists support for three distinct GPU architecture identifiers associated with the Medusa platform: gfx1170, gfx1171, and gfx115E.
The gfx117x identifiers are linked to the RDNA 4m architecture, which features elements such as FP8/BF8 conversion and new matrix instructions despite being categorized within the GFX11 family. Meanwhile, the inclusion of gfx115E suggests that certain Medusa chips may utilize RDNA 3.5 graphics, similar to those found in Strix Point and Strix Halo hardware.
While these identifiers appear in the changelog, AMD has not clarified which specific Medusa components will utilize each GPU architecture. Furthermore, the company has not distinguished between potential Medusa Point and Halo variants in the current documentation.
HIPRT 3.2 remains a pre-release version on GitHub. As rumors persist regarding the use of RDNA 4m in upcoming Ryzen Z3 handheld processors, additional architecture identifiers may emerge before AMD provides formal product announcements.
