Key information
Capcom issued a follow-up report on October 23 regarding unauthorized access to CAPCOM ID accounts. The company confirmed that personal information for 19 accounts was leaked from its online store, E-Capcom.
The breach originated from unauthorized password changes affecting 196 accounts, as previously disclosed on October 22. Investigations revealed that in 19 of these specific cases, third parties gained access to the E-Capcom personal pages of users located in Japan.
Exposed data includes names, addresses, and purchase histories. Capcom explicitly stated that credit card information was not compromised in this incident. For the remaining accounts where passwords were changed, no further information leaks were identified.
Capcom has concluded its investigation into the scope of the impact. The company is notifying affected users individually and warns of potential phishing attempts via email, phone, or SMS. Dedicated support channels remain available for Japanese customers as security measures are strengthened.
