Following the closure of BioWare, former community council member Dantics has shared details regarding a cancelled Mass Effect project. These claims, which remain unverified, suggest the game was set 600 years after the Reaper War, focusing on a "galactic Cold War" rather than an existential invasion.

The project reportedly featured a customizable N7 agent operating within a galaxy divided into three major power blocs: a human-led alliance, the Council races, and an emerging Geth superpower. Gameplay was designed to offer Hitman-style freedom for missions, incorporating environmental hacking, brutal close-range executions, and squad dynamics.

Dantics claims the narrative was structured to accommodate all three original trilogy endings by positioning them as historical legacy. While the author expresses skepticism regarding the lack of significant technological evolution over six centuries, they note the design aimed to balance familiarity with new mechanics.

Despite the positive reception of leaked concept footage, the project's future remains bleak. With Electronic Arts showing no interest in offloading the property, these details represent the only known insight into the studio's final development efforts for the franchise.
