Key information
AMD has officially committed to improving frame pacing within its FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology. Jack Huynh recently announced these upcoming enhancements, which aim to resolve long-standing criticisms regarding the consistency of frame delivery during gameplay.
The current implementation of FSR frame generation has faced scrutiny for producing inconsistent frame display times, resulting in a choppy experience. This issue has persisted since the introduction of FSR 3, with reports of micro-stuttering in titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and ongoing performance concerns noted in testing as recently as August this year.
Despite the promise of improvements, the company has not provided a specific release timeline or a definitive list of supported hardware. Furthermore, the announcement notably omitted any updates regarding Multi Frame Generation for AMD graphics cards, leaving questions about when this feature might arrive.
While AMD works on these official refinements, the industry continues to monitor whether these updates will be implemented before third-party developers or modders introduce their own solutions for higher frame generation capabilities.
