Arkane Lyon faces potential closure following a report from Le Monde, which indicated that Microsoft might shutter the studio. Due to French labor regulations, specifically the Florange Law, Microsoft must seek a buyer for the 217-employee studio before proceeding with any permanent cessation of activities.

Documents published on a French government website in August outlined plans for the permanent closure of the studio and the dismissal of all staff for economic reasons. These documents were part of a legally required consultation process initiated after Xbox announced widespread layoffs in July.

Unions including Printemps Écologique and the STJV sought an extension to the November 13 deadline to facilitate redundancy negotiations and the search for a buyer. Microsoft has confirmed a one-month extension to this consultation period to explore options, including finding a partner to support the development of Marvel's Blade.

A Microsoft representative stated that the extension allows for continued exploration of strategic options for the studio. While the company remains committed to informing the Works Council, the representative noted that the previously published closure documents do not represent a final decision regarding the studio's future.
