Director Naoki Hamaguchi has officially confirmed that the piano minigame featured in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will return in the upcoming third installment, Final Fantasy VII Revelation. The director utilized social media to announce that this gameplay feature will see significant expansion in the next title.
The updated minigame will introduce a variety of new musical options beyond the original piano. According to a shared French screenshot, players will be able to select from an acoustic guitar, drums, and a contrebasse. The interface will retain the familiar circular dial system for managing notes.
Hamaguchi indicated that the minigame will benefit from additional features and general improvements. These updates are part of a broader effort to provide more depth to the series' interactive elements, alongside other revealed content such as the return of the Great Glacier, North Crater cliff climbing, and new hot spring locations.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation is scheduled for release on April 8, 2027. The title is confirmed for the Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC platforms, mirroring the availability of the previous entries in the remake trilogy.
