Arkane Lyon, the developer behind Dishonored 2 and Deathloop, currently faces a potential closure as Microsoft seeks a buyer for the studio. According to Le Monde, the search for a purchaser began during the summer, with a legal deadline under the 2014 Florange Law set for November 13.

The studio, which employs 217 people, was informed of Microsoft's decision on July 16. While union representatives report that current negotiations regarding layoffs are struggling, they are actively seeking more time to secure a buyer and preserve jobs. Microsoft stated it is exploring various options and actively looking for a partner to support the development of the studio's current project.

Despite the uncertainty, the team continues work on Marvel’s Blade. Internal documents suggest that if the closure proceeds, it could begin in late 2026 and extend into early 2027. Previously, the project was reportedly slated for a fourth-quarter 2027 release, though Marvel Games has not commented on the current status of the title.

Union representatives have criticized the move, arguing that Microsoft is prioritizing short-term profitability over the studio's performance. They are currently pushing for the relocation of affected staff to other Xbox studios, noting that the broader video game market offers limited professional opportunities for those displaced.
