ASUS has initiated the rollout of a preview GPU driver enabling AMD FSR 4.1 upscaling for the ROG Xbox Ally X and ROG Xbox Ally X20. Users can access this update via the Armoury Crate SE software by navigating to the Update Center and selecting Preview Updates.

The handheld-specific implementation utilizes a lightweight model, measuring less than half the size of the standard INT8 version. This iteration is specifically engineered for the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor and functions across more than 400 titles that currently support FSR 3.1 or newer versions.

To activate the feature, players must enable FSR within game settings and toggle the FSR tile in the Command Center. ASUS explicitly advises against using the system-level RSR upscaler simultaneously. Furthermore, the company cautions that these preview updates may contain bugs, and no official performance metrics have been disclosed by ASUS or AMD.

Availability for the original ROG Xbox Ally remains uncertain, as a driver update released on October 28 did not confirm FSR 4.1 support. Meanwhile, Xbox Series X|S consoles are expected to receive the feature in the coming weeks, following AMD's broader expansion plans for the technology.
