Arkane Lyon, the developer behind Dishonored and Deathloop, faces a potential shutdown following Xbox's recent restructuring. Reports indicate the studio has until 13th November to secure a buyer, a requirement mandated by French law for companies of its size.
The search for a buyer, which began this summer, is part of a broader consultation process involving the Video Game Workers’ Union and the Social and Economic Committee. Microsoft has stated it continues to explore various options for the studio during this period.
Union representatives report that redundancy negotiations are currently proceeding poorly. While efforts to redeploy staff to other Microsoft divisions are underway, unions are actively seeking additional time to prevent the closure, which could impact 217 employees.
The future of the studio's project, Marvel's Blade, remains uncertain. Although Xbox previously claimed no announced projects would be cancelled, internal documents suggest that if the closure proceeds, operations could cease between late 2026 and early 2027.
