Disney+ has launched the new Marvel series VisionQuest, which premiered on October 13. The show features the live-action debut of the iconic character Jocasta, a synthetic robotic entity integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the first time.
Jocasta functions as an android housing the human consciousness of Dr. Josephine Carrington. According to Mein-MMO, Carrington was a scientist involved in the early artificial intelligence prototypes that eventually led to the creation of Ultron and Vision, effectively making her Ultron's grandmother.
The series depicts a dark dynamic where Ultron, currently controlling Vision's body, manipulates Jocasta into committing murder. This portrayal significantly diverges from the original comic books, where Ultron created Jocasta as a bride using Janet van Dyne's brain waves, leading to her eventual rebellion.
Jocasta first appeared in Avengers #162 in 1977. Nearly 50 years later, the character is portrayed by actress T’Nia Miller, known for her roles in The Fall of the House of Usher and The Haunting of Bly Manor.
