A brand new animation project based on Masamune Shirow's classic science fiction manga Ghost in the Shell has been officially announced. The production studio Science SARU, which previously worked on the 2026 series The Ghost in the Shell, will return to handle the animation for this upcoming installment.
The project is currently titled Ghost in the Shell (Tentative). While a promotional visual has been released, official details regarding the specific format, release window, voice cast, and full production staff remain undisclosed at this time.
The announcement was first discovered by attendees on promotional flyers during a media preview for the Open House event held at Dover Street Market Ginza. Following this, the news was officially confirmed on October 23, one day prior to the public event scheduled for October 24.
It is currently uncertain if this new project will continue the narrative established in the 2026 reboot. Bandai Namco Filmworks is expected to provide further updates through their official social media channels as development progresses.
