Wube Software has released version 2.1, the final major update for the resource management simulation game Factorio, onto its stable branch. This release includes over 30 quality of life improvements and minor features for both the base game and the Space Age expansion, described by the developers as content they intended for the 2.0 release but lacked the time to implement.
The update introduces several functional changes, such as allowing rockets to carry multiple item types in a single launch and enabling land mines to function as tripwires or enemy detectors. Additionally, asteroid damage calculations are now based on remaining health for better predictability, and players can now flip pumpjacks and burner miners. The Space Age expansion also gains an option to disable the Quality mechanic.
Graphical enhancements accompany these changes, featuring new models and a revised pump rendering system designed to connect to fluid wagons regardless of station layout. While this marks the end of major content additions, Wube Software confirmed that the game will continue to receive bug fixes and support-level updates as the team shifts focus toward new experimental projects.
