Razer has released the Basilisk V4 Pro, a versatile, right-handed ergonomic gaming mouse that serves as an update to the Basilisk V3 Pro 35K. Priced at $169.99, the device maintains a familiar contoured design while introducing new hardware features, including Razer's Focus Pro 50K optical sensor and Gen-4 optical switches.
The V4 Pro features 12 programmable buttons, including two new additions: a third thumb button defaulted to an AI prompt and an extra button on the left primary click for profile switching. It supports up to an 8,000 Hz polling rate and offers three connectivity modes: 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and wired USB-C.
Reviewer assessments were mixed regarding the new button layout. The reviewer found the AI button and the profile switch button poorly positioned for comfortable use, noting that the extra thumb button pushes existing controls into awkward locations. While the 100g weight is lighter than the predecessor, the reviewer criticized the sensitivity of the tilt wheel's free-spin mode and the lack of included grip tape.
The mouse offers 200 hours of battery life at 1,000 Hz, dropping to 54 hours at 8,000 Hz. It is compatible with the separately sold $69.99 Mouse Dock V2 Pro, which provides wireless charging and an integrated 8,000 Hz receiver. The product is currently available in black and white colorways.
