Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Games has not officially announced a PC version for this open-world title, which arrives over thirteen years after its predecessor.
Economic projections suggest the game will generate significant financial shifts in the United States. José García Montalvo, an economics professor at Pompeu Fabra University, estimates that the launch will trigger approximately 1.5 million worker absences, primarily among men aged 18 to 30, leading to a 2% contraction in productivity.
Montalvo notes that the financial losses incurred by American employers due to this absenteeism will be nearly equivalent to the revenue Take-Two gains from game sales. He suggests this capital effectively transfers from domestic businesses to Take-Two and Rockstar Games, with some funds flowing to the developer, Rockstar North, based in Scotland.
Anticipation for the title remains high, with reports indicating that over 6 million copies have already been reserved, generating nearly 600 million dollars in revenue prior to the official launch date.
