Saber Interactive's driving title Rideshare Stimulator has garnered significant attention due to controversy and gameplay concerns. Players manage a rideshare business alongside a character named Tim, attempting to earn money while navigating traffic and following road regulations.
The core gameplay loop involves picking up passengers and restoring a classic sports car stored in a garage. However, the experience suffers because the game becomes less engaging as it attempts to simulate the actual realities of the job.
Former lead writer Stella Sacco alleged that Saber Interactive replaced her with AI-generated text during development. Saber disputed these claims, stating that humans wrote the main storyline, though they confirmed generative AI is utilized for an experimental free-ride mode.
The situation intensified following public comments from CEO Matthew Karch regarding Sacco. Additionally, chief creative officer Tim Willits addressed the controversy at Gamescom in August, denying that the company is replacing staff with artificial intelligence.
