Croatian studio Gamepires has announced staff layoffs, occurring eight months after its acquisition by Splash Damage Group. The developer confirmed the reductions on October 14, 2026, citing a need to adapt to challenging market conditions and ensure long-term sustainability.
The exact number of employees affected by these cuts remains undisclosed by both Gamepires and its parent company. These redundancies follow a broader trend within the organization, as Splash Damage previously experienced significant job losses shortly after being purchased by private equity investors.
Splash Damage Group acknowledged the departing staff, praising their contributions to the development of the survival title SCUM. Despite the internal changes, the company stated that the team remains committed to the project.
For the player community, the studio confirmed that development of SCUM will continue. The game, which exited early access with its 1.0 release in June 2025, will still receive ongoing support, including future content updates and necessary hotfixes from the remaining team members.
