Key information
In July, Xbox initiated efforts to sell Arkane Lyon, the developer behind Dishonored and Deathloop, as a final measure to prevent the studio's closure. Despite these attempts, the company has been unable to secure a buyer after months of searching.
The studio is now scheduled for closure in November. This outcome threatens the positions of approximately 220 employees, as leadership failed to identify a strategic alternative to ensure the developer's continued operation.
French labor laws extended the studio's lifespan beyond what Xbox reportedly preferred. However, local unions have warned that the closure of this prominent French developer is imminent, characterizing Xbox's management as disrespectful and inconsistent.
While the studio faces a final deadline of November 13 to find a buyer, the situation remains dire. This follows previous closures by Xbox, which shuttered Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks, and Alpha Dog Studios earlier this year.
