In Final Fantasy Resonance, players can expand Fina's combat abilities by acquiring new Chimeras. One such entity is Carbuncle, which is obtained by completing the Ruby Cave quest. Unlike other encounters in the game, this quest does not involve a battle but requires locating three specific ruby fragments hidden across the continent of the Federation of Olderion.
To begin, players must locate the Ruby Cave, situated west of the city of Olderion near a sanctuary. Upon reaching the end of the cave's main corridor, interacting with a stone stele triggers a cinematic where Rain reads instructions for finding the three fragments. These items are not marked on the map, requiring players to navigate based on environmental clues provided by the inscription.
The fragments are scattered around Olderion. The first is found between two water basins southeast of the city. The second is located along the eastern coast near a mountain with two distinct indentations. The final fragment is positioned northwest of the city, situated on a ledge near seven waterfalls. Once all three are collected, returning to the stele unlocks Carbuncle.
Once added to the team, Carbuncle serves as a protective entity that provides reinforcement and healing spells during combat. However, players should exercise caution, as the summon's Mirror ability can cause healing spells to ricochet, potentially impacting their effectiveness during intense encounters.
