The annual LudoNarraCon festival, organized by Fellow Traveller, recently showcased a variety of story-focused indie games. These titles, currently available for consideration on Steam, represent a diverse selection of upcoming projects highlighted for their unique narrative approaches.
The lineup includes several distinct gameplay experiences. Nirvana Noir, a detective sequel from Feral Cat Den, features vibrant colors and jazz, while Thunder Lotus is developing At Fate’s End, a genre-bending Metroidvania focused on family conflict. Additionally, The Marvelous Raincaster of Yell Holler offers a time-looping puzzle experience, and Apple Crumble, arriving Dec. 3, tasks players with solving a mystery involving a grandmother's 84th birthday.
Visual and thematic variety remains a core focus of these selections. I Shall Name the Dead utilizes a striking blue-orange hand-drawn art style for its interactive fiction, while the psychological horror title Work Work Work comes from the developers of A Space for the Unbound, Mojiken.
Several of these titles are currently accessible through free demos, allowing players to sample the mechanics before release. While At Fate’s End has been delayed until 2027, other projects like Apple Crumble have confirmed launch dates, providing a clear roadmap for fans of narrative-driven gaming.
