Key information
Following the recent closure of BioWare, the studio behind the iconic Mass Effect franchise, reports indicate that most associated projects have been shelved. However, one notable exception remains in active development.
According to IGN, Amazon Prime Video is still working on a television series adaptation of Mass Effect. This production was officially announced in 2024, though specific details regarding the plot and casting remain undisclosed.
The project, which was linked to rumors involving MGM as early as 2021, currently lists Doug Jung as the showrunner, with Daniel Casey handling the script. The series operates independently of BioWare, as the studio's primary involvement was limited to selling the adaptation rights to Amazon.
While IGN confirms the series is still moving forward, its future depends entirely on Amazon's internal decisions rather than BioWare. Given the current lack of updates, it remains possible that the company could cancel the adaptation in the coming months.
