Market research firm Circana reported that Marvel’s Wolverine secured the top spot in the United States game sales rankings for September. According to senior director Mat Piscatella, the title achieved the highest launch-month sales for a Sony Interactive Entertainment release since Helldivers 2.
The game’s success significantly impacted hardware performance, contributing to a 22% year-over-year increase in PlayStation 5 unit sales. Piscatella noted that the title’s launch drove PS5 sales growth more effectively than recent news regarding Grand Theft Auto VI.
Accessories also saw a boost, with the DualSense Wireless Controller Marvel’s Wolverine Battle Yellow Limited Edition becoming the best-selling gamepad by both units and revenue. This performance occurred despite prior user criticism regarding specific gameplay options and broader boycotts directed at Sony’s physical media policies.
Marvel’s Wolverine is currently available for the PlayStation 5. While the broader US gaming market experienced a 1% decline in total spending, the title remains a notable success, ranking 11th in cumulative sales for the year since early 2026.
