Bandai Namco Filmworks officially announced the start of production for a brand-new animation project based on the Ghost in the Shell series created by Masamune Shirow. The company revealed this development on October 23, 2026, alongside a promotional visual.
The animation studio Science SARU has been selected to handle the production. This follows their previous work on the series titled Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell, which aired from July to September 2026.
Details regarding this upcoming project were shared via a surprise announcement on a flyer. This material was distributed during a press preview for the Open House public event, held at Dover Street Market Ginza in Chuo City, Tokyo, on October 24.
