Mahalagang impormasyon

A rare prototype of the 1998 Nintendo Game Boy title Pokémon Red has appeared at auction, currently attracting a bid of $25,000. Authenticated by PSA, the cartridge features a unique development board. While a full data read was not possible, specialists successfully accessed 32KB of readable memory, which they report is identical to the final U.S. release.

The prototype exhibits minor technical variations in its header data. PSA identified that offset 0x014C is incorrectly set to 55 instead of 00, which subsequently alters the calculated header checksum at offset 0x014D from 20 to CB. These specific modifications do not impact the actual game content.

The hardware itself is housed in a cartridge longer than standard retail versions, labeled with the part number DMG-(F)KGDB-01. According to Retro Dodo, the board includes a 16 megabit flash-writable memory chip. Although the auction describes the board as previously undocumented, the Rare Gaming Dump wiki notes that this specific part number has appeared in other development cartridges dating back to 2000.

As Pokémon Red remains a significant entry in the franchise with over 31 million copies sold alongside Blue, interest in this item is high. With several days remaining in the auction, the final sale price may exceed the current $25,000 bid.
