Askiisoft has confirmed that the long-awaited downloadable content for Katana Zero remains in active development. Originally announced as a free addition, the project has undergone significant expansion over several years of work.
The developer recently stated on X that the content has grown to the scale of a full sequel. This expanded release will feature a substantial musical component, including a new soundtrack containing over 30 tracks.
While the studio has shared a new teaser and reiterated their commitment to the project as recently as 2025, the ultimate release format remains uncertain. It is currently unclear if the content will retain its original free status or transition into a standalone game, similar to the development path of Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Katana Zero, which debuted in 2019 for PC and Nintendo Switch before arriving on Xbox One, was praised for its fast-paced, strategic action and neo-noir aesthetic. Further updates regarding the status of this massive expansion are expected in the future.
