Key information

Panache Digital Games has officially announced a major, free technical overhaul for Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. The title, which originally launched in August 2019, will transition to the Unreal Engine 5, with a release date scheduled for December 8, 2026.

The update introduces significant technical refinements, including optimized graphics and improved ergonomics to address previous player criticisms regarding rigidity. Additionally, the developers are adding a documentary-style narrative mode to provide commentary on the clan's evolution, alongside a new photo mode and various bug fixes.

While the original 2019 release was noted for its challenging, tutorial-free survival gameplay, some players found the experience repetitive. The upcoming version aims to smooth out these physical interactions and mechanical friction points that previously deterred segments of the audience.

This remastered edition will be available at no additional cost to existing owners on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The update will launch natively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a confirmed release for the Nintendo Switch 2.
