Key information
The developers of the first-person shooter Wardogs, Bulkhead, announced on October 22 via X that they are implementing regional controls to combat the prevalence of illegal programs. To protect players, the studio is lowering the maximum server ping limit to 175, effectively restricting matchmaking to players within closer physical proximity.
While the developers did not explicitly name specific countries, they indicated that the measure is a response to high frequencies of cheating originating from certain regions. The team expressed regret over the necessity of this action, noting that their initial hope for self-regulation within those areas did not materialize as expected.
Many South Korean players have criticized the update, citing frequent DDoS attacks on Asian servers and widespread cheating. Previously, these players utilized North American servers to avoid such issues, but the new ping cap now prevents them from doing so, making the game difficult to access.
Dissatisfied users have taken to Steam reviews to voice their concerns. The prevailing sentiment among the community is that the developers should focus on fundamental anti-cheat improvements or establish separate servers for regions with high cheating rates rather than enforcing strict cross-region matchmaking limitations.
