On October 23, 2026, The Pokemon Company announced the debut of five Pokemon manhole covers, known as Poke Lids, in Gunma Prefecture. This marks the first time these themed installations have been placed within the prefecture.
The new installations are located across five specific municipalities: Numata City, Tatebayashi City, Shibukawa City, Shimonita Town, and Naganohara Town. Each cover features unique artwork showcasing various creatures.
The designs incorporate several Pokemon, including Zapdos, Boltund, Sirfetch'd, Shiftry, and Zigzagoon. Additionally, the promotional materials highlight local specialties, such as the Shimonita leek associated with Shimonita Town.
Gunma Prefecture has released a travel map to assist visitors in locating these manholes. The map suggests nearby tourist attractions for each site, such as the Yamba Dam, Ikaho Onsen, Fukiware Falls, and Tsutsujigaoka Park.
