Microsoft announced on October 21, 2026, that Xbox Insiders can now purchase cloud gaming time packages without a Game Pass subscription. These introductory pricing tiers include 10 hours for 3.99 dollars, 25 hours for 7.99 dollars, and 50 hours for 11.99 dollars. A broader rollout is scheduled for November.
These packages provide an ad-free experience with high-quality streaming and shorter wait times. Purchased hours do not expire and carry over until used. However, these packages do not grant access to the Game Pass library; users must own the specific game or utilize supported free-to-play titles. Availability is subject to market, device, and account conditions.
Starting in November, Microsoft will also implement monthly time limits for existing Game Pass cloud streaming, which is currently unlimited. Limits will be set at 15 hours for Ultimate, 10 hours for Premium, and 5 hours for Essential subscribers. Microsoft estimates these changes will impact approximately 4% of its subscriber base.
The update represents a shift in cloud access, opening the service to non-subscribers while introducing usage quotas for members. While the 50-hour package costs 11.99 dollars, it excludes the broader game library access provided by Game Pass Ultimate. Additionally, Xbox Insiders can access limited one-hour, ad-supported streaming sessions for games they already own.
