Landfall Games CBO Rebecca Lautner recently discussed the studio's future in a GamesIndustry.biz podcast episode recorded at Game Republic New Horizons. Despite the massive commercial success of Peak, which has reached over 23 million units sold, Lautner confirmed the developer intends to pivot toward new projects.
Lautner explained that while the business potential for Peak remains significant, the studio prioritizes creative exploration over maximizing existing hits. This philosophy aligns with the company's internal culture, which Lautner embraced shortly after joining the team to pursue a distinct development path.
The studio maintains a "fail fast" policy, abandoning projects if they do not show promise within one month of development. Additionally, Landfall is diversifying its portfolio through its publishing arm, Evil Landfall, which supported the recent hit How to Fish. The company is now actively seeking to invest in titles beyond the friendslop genre.
The full conversation, which also covers details about the Stockholm development house and the absence of an April Fools release this year, is available on platforms including Spotify and YouTube.
