Archetype Entertainment has announced a complete redesign of the male protagonist in its upcoming space RPG, Exodus. General Manager Chad Robertson stated that the studio monitored community discussions and feedback regarding the character's appearance over the past several months. The developers took this input seriously and refined the character's look throughout the ongoing development process.
The updated male protagonist features a noticeably shorter face length and sharper facial features compared to the initial model. The design now presents a younger appearance, and the previously prominent beard has been removed. While the studio is not implementing full skeletal customization, players can still adjust specific elements such as hair style, hair color, facial hair, tattoos, eye color, and makeup. The team plans to reveal the female protagonist's design in the near future.
Exodus follows the journey of the protagonist, known as the Traveler, as they explore ancient ruins to protect humanity against the Celestials. Players will encounter diverse companions, including soldiers and smugglers, while utilizing customizable weaponry. The game has drawn comparisons to the Mass Effect series, though some users previously expressed concerns regarding the protagonist's original aesthetic.
The title is scheduled for release on April 7, 2027, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will include official support for the Korean language.
