Electronic Arts recently announced the closure of the long-standing studio BioWare. Following this decision, a trailer for the project titled Mass Effect: Universe was leaked online.
The footage initially surfaced on Reddit. Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has since verified the authenticity of the leaked material.
The video features early production assets created by a small internal team. It highlights spy and thriller elements set after the Reaper War from the original trilogy, featuring the character Liara T’Soni.
Although EA previously pledged in late 2025 to continue developing Mass Effect 5, the recent shuttering of the studio has resulted in the cancellation of the Mass Effect: Universe project.
