The free file hosting service uploader.jp, which includes getuploader.com and ux.getuploader.com, has announced it will terminate its services on November 25, 2026. According to the official announcement, this decision stems from changing usage patterns and various other circumstances.
Operating since 2006, the platform has served as a critical infrastructure for Japanese PC gamers and modders for approximately 20 years. It became a primary hub for distributing fan-made localization patches and mods for titles such as The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, long before global platforms like Nexus Mods gained widespread adoption in Japan.
Beyond international titles, the service supported domestic indie games and creative communities. It hosted resources for Elona, CardWirth, and WOLF RPG Editor, as well as files for tools like MikuMikuDance and AviUtl. Many of these files are linked from long-standing community wikis or forums, and some carry specific licensing restrictions regarding redistribution.
All uploaded data will be permanently deleted at the end of the final service day. Users who manage their own data or require specific files are advised to complete backups or migrations before the deadline, as the loss of these files may render significant portions of Japanese PC gaming and internet history inaccessible.
