Sentinel has unveiled a new plastic model kit featuring the IXPEL, the player-controlled unit from the side-scrolling shooter Formation Z. This release marks the debut product for the company's newly established brand, GM²I, which focuses on creating kits based on classic gaming mecha.
The kit is scheduled for release in August 2027 with a retail price of 8800 yen including tax. Interested customers can currently place pre-orders, which are being accepted from October 23, 2026, until March 4, 2027.
The project is led by producer Takanobu Terada, known for the Super Robot Wars series. Mechanical designers Kanetake Ebikawa and Takayuki Yanase are involved in the project, with Ebikawa providing a design refinement that aims for a smart and sharp aesthetic.
Functionality includes a transformation gimmick that allows users to switch between ground robot and aerial fighter modes by replacing specific parts. This feature is designed to replicate the transformation process depicted on the packaging of home console ports.
