Bandai Namco Entertainment has officially released a standalone Steam application for the port of Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. This title, which now features support for Steam achievements, was previously only available as a pre-order bonus for Ace Combat 8: Wings of the Revolution.
Previously, players were required to install the main Ace Combat 8 game to access this title through an internal menu. The new standalone application allows pre-order holders to play the game without downloading the main title, addressing user feedback regarding inconvenience and confusion caused by the previous DLC-based execution method.
The game features the Ace Style Gauge system, where player choices during missions influence their Ace Style. This mechanic dynamically alters radio communications and the specific enemy aces encountered throughout the campaign, reflecting the series' narrative roots.
Despite this update, Bandai Namco confirmed there are no plans for a standalone retail release due to aircraft licensing constraints. Following an announcement on October 13 regarding the transition to a standalone app, the developer has finalized quality and operational checks, with Steam Cloud support for save data sharing expected.
