Microsoft announced on October 21 that it has launched a test for Xbox Cloud Gaming allowing users without a Game Pass subscription to purchase streaming time. This initiative is currently available to participants of the Xbox Insider Program.
The test serves as a precursor to a broader service expansion scheduled for November 2026. During this trial, non-subscribers can purchase access to stream games they own, moving away from the ad-supported free streaming model previously tested in July.
Unlike the earlier ad-supported preview, these purchased sessions are ad-free. Microsoft notes that users can utilize their acquired time until it is fully consumed, with the service offering benefits such as reduced wait times and higher streaming quality.
Availability of these features, including specific regions, purchase methods, and eligible game titles, may vary based on account eligibility, device type, and preview ring status. This rollout follows Microsoft's earlier announcement regarding monthly usage limits for Game Pass subscribers starting in November.
