Key information
Two pallets containing ZOTAC GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards were stolen from the cargo terminal at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil. The shipment, imported from the US by distributor Oderço, is valued at approximately R$2.5 million, or roughly $470,000.
Security footage from September 21 shows two outsourced forklift operators removing the pallets from the warehouse. A third employee, identified as a checker, allegedly authorized the release within the electronic system to bypass airport security controls. The cargo was subsequently loaded onto a truck and remains missing.
One of the stolen units appeared on the online marketplace OLX for R$32,000, approximately $6,000. Jornal da Band confirmed the serial number matched the imported inventory, though the listing has since been removed. No arrests have been reported regarding the incident.
Oderço Matos, president of the distributor, noted that such a disappearance is highly unusual. While previous GPU thefts have occurred, the high demand for RTX 5090 cards in AI workloads has driven street prices for some units above $8,000.
