Capcom has released a demo for Monster Hunter Wilds on the Nintendo Switch 2. Following the release, several Japanese users have reported significant technical issues, including console freezes and failures to reboot.
Specific user reports describe screens turning black during gameplay. One user noted that even after following official Nintendo guidelines to force a restart by holding the power button for 12 seconds, the console displayed the Nintendo logo before returning to a black screen. Another user reported that their console became extremely slow after a freeze and eventually failed to power on entirely, leading them to consider repairs.
Some players have expressed hesitation regarding the platform, with reports of users opting to return to the PlayStation 5 version or avoiding the Switch 2 release until a patch is issued. These incidents follow previous performance concerns during early testing on PS5, PC, and Xbox, where players encountered crashes and graphical glitches.
Despite these individual reports, Digital Foundry noted that the Switch 2 version exhibits superior texture, reflection, and anti-aliasing quality compared to the Xbox Series S. However, the outlet observed reduced vegetation animation and environmental shadows, alongside frame rate drops for distant NPCs. In TV mode, the demo runs at approximately 648p, targeting 30 fps or 40-55 fps in performance mode, while handheld mode operates at 432p locked to 30 fps.
