Capcom has confirmed a significant security breach involving its Capcom ID system, which is required for various online gaming features. According to the company, unauthorized access impacted 11,774,247 registered accounts.

The compromised information includes user email addresses, IP addresses, and profile activity data. Capcom stated that user passwords and credit card details remain secure and were not exposed during the incident.

The company identified that 43 accounts had additional information accessed, while 196 accounts had their passwords changed without authorization. Capcom has since reset these passwords to prevent account hijacking and is notifying the affected users.

Capcom is currently investigating the breach and advises users to remain vigilant against potential phishing attempts or fraudulent emails. This event follows a previous ransomware attack in November 2020 that compromised personal records of customers and former employees.
